Today was a public Holiday in the Redlands for the Ekka(Brisbane Show)
It was also our friend Lesley's Birthday. And what better way to celebrate
an almost spring birthday than with Strawberries. My little Finlay helped too!

Gotta love freshly picked Strawberries.
I live in the Redlands which is steeped in Strawberry history.
We are lucky to still have The Farm, which is located at Wellington Point.
In 1906, special fruit trains would run to the area to sample the strawberries and to visit the gardens image from here
When I was younger I remember going to the Strawberry Festival.
From memory it started with the crowning of the Strawberry Queen and then the closing of the main street to allow the the float parade. I used to love lining the street to wave to the floats.
The last Strawberry festival was held in 2002, and in 2003 the inaugural Redland Spring
Festival was held, incorporating the former Redland Strawberry Festival and Green
and Grow Expo (now Greening Redlands).
They still hold the famous strawberry eating competition.
We had the pleasure of PYO (pick your own) a few weeks back when we where travelling to our big girls footy game at Beerwah. Look daddy a big one!
I love nothing more than hitting the open road and stopping along the way.
The girls loved it, we ate so many strawberries and paid $10 a bucket!
Highly recommended!

I've died and gone to vintage heaven

Last Sunday was the best fun I've had in ages.
My Ma and I set out for The 12th Annual Kustom Kulture Greazefest.
No kids and no husbands(or as I like to call them the handbrake)
And what an absolute eyeful we got, I did not know where to look. There was beauty everywhere you looked.
From the vintage cars and caravans to the markets and fashion parades.

It would have to have been the biggest and best markets I've ever been too.

I was so lucky to have had my ma spoil me for my Birthday with some great buys but could have spent soooo much more. I'm sporting a lovely new pair of cats eyes form Tres Noir,
my ol' Ray Bans are great but just fell in love with these ones straight away.

I bought the most gorgeous vintage garden party dress I wanted to share a pic, but left it at a friends (will post later). And from the same stall, I still can't believe I paid only $20 !!! for these original vintage swimmers, the are charging anywhere from $170 up for a pair I want, and thats cheap!
Saw lots of Ek Holdens which made me want to go back to the day when I had my EK's.

This old woody was for sale, I didn't dare ask how much they wanted for her.

I was sad to hear on the morning that The Best Little Van in Vegas wasn't going to make an appearance due to car problems, the joys of owning a classic car.

It only took us all day to find Mimsy, I knew she was going to be there had to go and check out her lil' van, it is so adorable and she tattoos in it:)

I also dropped in and said hey to the lovely Amanda from Hungry Designs a fellow Brisstylette

As you can see we had a fun filled day can't wait to go next year

Remember the other day when I was mentioning how much I love spring.
Well today I am making the perfect lil' dress for those beautiful spring picnics.
In it's past life it was a tablecloth.... now something totally functional. Not saying you wouldn't use it for a tablecloth, well you know what I mean:) The yellow gingham facing matches just lovely with this picnic'y tablecloth dress.
Enjoying my days I also got back to my vintage jumper pattern I started last week. Holly is coming along lovely, just have to give it some buttons and a hem. Same as my Picnic dress above.

Nothing gets me more excited then the first sign of Spring... It's my most favourite season of the year. Sunshine, picnics,spring cleaning,pretty smells...
I planted this Jasmine about 2 years ago now and its coming along just lovely(think we can thank the chook poo for that)my dad pointed out that it was going to be a good bloom this Spring and I think he's right, it is full of buds and I spotted it flowering yesterday, already!

I have had the last 2 days off from work and I am feeling refreshed an inspired.
Yesterday I cleaned the house, so I could focus on a bit of creativity today.
So after I dropped the girls to school, I boiled the kettle and got into it.
Well not before a bit of breaky and mag inspiration in the beautiful morning sunshine...

I bought these vintage patterns a while back with other ideas in mind. But after cutting them out I thought I would have a crack at a few.
I'm just a bout finished the first one. A Holly Hobbie dress. Back to work tomorrow then booked up with mummy duties Friday and Saturday and back to work Sunday Monday, so might be a week till i get back to it. Hope I don't lose my mojo

Well I could think of worse things to be addicted to I suppose.
I have just completed my first Etsy Treasury. You guessed it Russian Dolls.
Don't know why I haven't done it sooner.
Maybe I thought it would be difficult, turns out I was wrong.
ETSY seems to be getting easy to navigate lately.
I love ETSY, if you have never visited, do your self a favour and pop in. 24hr shopping and the most amazing unique things you won't find in the shops.
Just when you thought you'd seen it all.... yes it is, they come in all shapes,sizes and fabrics. Who would of thunk it image from here

I have taken to doing a bit of shopping on line lately. I have been working more hours at the toy shop and just don't have the spare time to stroll the shops.
I was fortunate last Friday to do some real life shopping with miss Annie.
She was excited to show me her new fav shop that has just opened up a few doors down from their Advertising Company/ Coffee Cafe. IMAGE from here
I had a lovely chat with Jess of Belle Bazaar. She has a beautiful shop in Lumley St Mt Gravatt.
Full of handmade goodness and cutezies.
I just had to buy something and was drawn too, these cute Russian Doll Stationary Sets, (surprise) by Kawaii for you.
The visit has totally inspired me to get back into doing the markets again. Belle Bazaar are running a Twilight Market. Find more here

Brother Love

I often say to my girls how lucky they are to have sisters. Someone to share their secrets,talk about boys,share clothes , plait their hair, playing dress up and dollies with.
But they always screw their faces up at me.
I have been told by older friends who seem to have fantastic loving relationships with their sisters, why don't my girls get on like that. And I have been informed it comes later.
I always longed for a sissy to play with, instead I was stuck with a brother.
Don't get me wrong we had fun.
And I was reminded of how nice it is to have a sibling,this week, no matter what gender. It's that bond you share growing up.
He went to the local markets this week and when I saw him later that day I asked him, quite cheekily,did ya buy any vintage stuff for me. He jumped out of his seat and said he had. I thought to my self, oh no what crap has he bought me and I'm going to have to pretend how awesome it was... to my surprise I didn't have to pretend... It's made me smile all week:) someone who truly knows me.
I know doesn't take me much to get excited, but it's the simple things in life that I love♥

Vintage Lovers Look Away... this may hurt

After my last post I jumped in the Ute to go and pick up vintage dresser from the Salvo's.

Shifter in hand to remove the mirror, thinking I would be doing it on my own, and not getting much assistance from the old lady behind the counter.

Half way through doing this, enter my man "helper"(think he works there) asking "are you taking this on the Ute" "Sure am" I said.

Insisting it will be fine on the Ute, don't even take the mirror off, she'll be right.

The whole time my gut was feeling something different.

We put it on the Ute,he, pushing away the tie downs that were in his way, my gut telling me, should use them.

"nah" he says, she'll be right.

So me, being one not to offend, took his, what seemed at the time, knowledgeable advice. Surely he's done this plenty of times, Right?

I didn't get 30 seconds down the road and,BANG! SMASH! there goes that idea.

I was gutted

The mirror was the main thing I feel in love with. You know the ones, thick,heavy,scalloped edges.

Soooo, I'm thinking I my turn it into a mosaic, piece. My dad has already offered to replace it for me. Think he felt my pain. But just won't be the same :(

Ideally I'd like to hire some as I'm not sure I would need them after the wedding.

Hello, I'm back

After a little crafty lull, not helped by being sick for 3 weeks with this horrible lurgy going around at the moment.

I'm back into the swing of things, with a little help from our BIMD that was on Saturday(and beautiful spring weather)

market prep

She was a crazy week trying to catch up from the last market. Having no time between my new job, kids,home life and being sick. But I got there, finally calling it quits at 1:30am Saturday morning for my early market rise of 5am. But whats new.

So I am determined to keep going with my sewing even if it means getting one thing done a day.

I am starting by revamping my sewing room it's just not working for me (which may have a big influence on my flow)

As much as I love seeing my fabrics on the shelve to inspire me, I've decided I'm going to purchase some big storage boxes to put it all into to reduce the clutter and streamline my area.

Here are some pics of the market yesterday.

It was so awesome and inspiring to catch up with all the gals yesterday.

I got lots of lovely comments, which always make it worth the stress and lack of sleep and inspires me to get straight into once I get home.

Ok I'm a bit late, I am flat out at the moment doing what was meant to be my course at Sarina Russo, but decided to seek out my work experience at the end of week 1(work experience was scheduled for week 4) and got offered it straight up as they had a job going at Toyworld.

And as of today I am know employed at Toyworld. Did a week of work experience and must have loved me:)

Soooo I am still committed to finishing my course that I started, so been trying to fit that in when I can, and trying to juggle the house,not to mention my poor lil orphan Annie's:( on School holidays at the moment.

And have had no time for My Girl,ETSY checks,hence why I have been so quite, but she's there in the back of my mind.

So today I am going to share my all time Fav Friday thing to do. Govinda's

As some of you may know I have been cleaning private homes for a few years now..

This has served me well while my girls have been little and at school.
But now as they are getting older and able to manage.
And having my life turned upside down and around again all in 5 months.

It was time to put things in to perspective and do something for me.

So I'm packing my mop and broom away,

and taking on the retail world.

But first I have to become a full time student, just as my girls are going on holidays, mummy is going back to school.

So with that in mind, mummy has been busy this week trying to bring some order to the house, so that I don't totally lose my mind.

With a couple of new items from the 1/2 price sales, that seem to be in every shop at the moment(they were begging to be bought) I proceeded to hang them up in my cupboard and this is what happened......

When I first saw my pile, I thought oh no what have I started, even considered parting with my Vintage and Boho clothes(only a passing thought)

But when I introduced smaller coat hangers and sorted my "retail" clothes from my "Boho" clothes, I felt much better. Feeler a little closer to being organised. Even dabbled in a bit of colour coordination(that won't last)

It's my last day home alone tomorrow, so really hoping to get some sewing done, but have a funny feeling I might get side tracked into "organising" It's so nice cleaning my own home for a change

After picking Finlay up from her friends this evening, she informed me how she would like to her hair tomorrow, thinking it was a school day, she has done this to me before. And I am always shocked. I asked her don't you look forward to Friday( I know I do), it's like the best day of the week. Then Ursula informed me that Monday was her favourite, I asked why? Because I have Tutoring with KIP and district softball training. I said to myself enjoy that while it lasts. Monday! eeww!

That's Owl speak for goodnight. My new Owl friend and I are off to bed, early start in the morning, off to the BIMD.

I have been yearning for so long to start an Owl collection, but the first one I ever made put me off for a while. But I am happy with this lil lass for now. I wanted to have more to take with me tomorrow, but will be flying solo, so she'll just have to hang with the Bushka gang.

And this lil' darling is my Niece Allie, she was very happy to get her singlet her mummy ordered for her today, and to visit her Auntie Shannie.

Hello my lovelies, sorry for my absence. Been flat out,and no camera charger, so I'm using my IPhone to upload my latest creations for the up and coming BIMD this Saturday.
These lil' ladies are smaller than my Mumma & Bubba Bushkas's but bigger then the Bubba. So more like a teenager Bushka:)
And they have a jingle bell inside, for a little tinker.

Now back to my sewing, as usual left everything to the last minute.

Somewhere over the Rainbow...

This week the girls set out to paint the fort, in anticipation of Finlay's Mad Hatter Tea Party on next Sunday. Well we had lots of ideas swirling around, and with the girls cousin Cearnna and friend Isabella over, Ursula lost her fight for the garden and Alice in Wonderland theme. I too was hoping for a controlled piece of art.

As I left for my Body Shop party, I wondered what I was going to come home too, but did it really matter, they were having so much fun, paint in their hair and faces they didn't have a care in the world. And that's the way it should be. You just have to let the kids be kids, I'm starting to let go of this feeling that everything must done to plan, just let it be. ( did I mention I am a Virgo,eek!)As I drove up the drive way after my party all I could do was smile.

I'm giving up a little control in the kitchen as well and just letting them have a go, letting them make their biscuits, yesterday, while I got on with my sewing, Ursula still needs to get her 1/2 and 1 1/2 right though the mixture was a little on the orange side from not mixing enough flour with the custard powder, but it was fixable, after we went back over the recipe.

We also made our own pizza bases and sauce tonight, I am really enjoying spending this time with them.

Finlay and I let go of the notion that the base had to be circle and went for triangler base, where Ursula went for a perfect circle and Ocey well she didn't care what shape hers was as long as she got it fast,all choosing their own bases and making them themselves

Will show you the end result of the fort, it's pretty wild:)

All this week I have enjoyed cooking up beautiful well thought out meals for my girls. Always one for lovely exotic food, most times I am put off by the girls screwing their noses up and saying they don't like it,(I am hopeful one day they will appreciate the humble mushroom) and I give up. But not this time, I am feeling very inspired by my new blog love ecomilf.
It is my job on this earth to teach my children values,otherwise someone else will.

So with this in mind, I started my food shop early in the week, something I sometimes do when I can fit it in our have money. This week I was determined to start the school week with a fridge full of fruit and veg.

Meal no.1 Coconut Curry Barra and Rice

Meal no. 2 Garlic Prawn with fresh Corn and shallots and noodles

Meal no. 3 Baked Sweet Potato and Mushroom with Cream Cheese Hamburgers

Meal no.4 Well I'll call this one a Vegetarian Tortilla stack Lasagne, made with totally from scratch tomato sauce( really enjoyed not using a bottled one) with fresh basil from the garden and Bechamel sauce

It did take me hours but felt much satisfaction when done, and all the girls ate it, friends and all, except Finlay she opted for Avocado on toast, was a bit adventurous for her.

I must admit I was a little worried when it came to putting it in the oven thought it might collapse,but I pulled it off, and it even cut into slices

And to finish off we made Caramel Popcorn

Finlay starting on our Winter Veges, but have to build a fence tomorrow to keep the dogs and chookens out!
Now all I have to do is get this creative in the sewing room.

Happy Easter Dear Friends

Hello Everyone, its been a while, I know but I am still here.

After a sad start to my year all creative juices were stripped of me. And I was questioning my ability to go on with MyGirl. After 4 months away from the sewing machine, I can safely say now that I am missing it. You cant give up on your passion, no matter what life throws at you.

So I will be making my triumphant return after Easter.

I am heading over to Stradbroke Island to spend some time catching up with friends and let the girls roam, before starting a fresh, next term.

I am happy to say I will be attending the first ever BITM, Brisstyle Indie Twilight Market that is going to be held in King George Square on the 30th April, find more info here

Hi Everyone, yes I am still alive,just been flat out,running 3 jobs, well 4 if you count the family.

Just to summarise what I have been doing since my last post, at Mathilda's

Wow and what a day it was

Mathilda's definitely delivered the crowds and awesome stallholders,many being our own Brisstylettes.

Come 9am when the Markets opened it was like someone opened a flood gate

Mums and bubs and lots of prams filled The Brisbane city hall all to grab something special.

And going on what the other stall holders had to say I wasn't the only one that had a great day.

This would have to have been MyGirls best market to date.

Hello there...

Just a quick post to say I haven't disappeared under my stash of fabric that is taking over my sewing room floor. I want to be in bed by midnight tonight and time is running out!

I have been very busy this week preparing for Mathilda's Market that is happening this Sunday at Brisbane City Hall. 9-1pm

I have some new items that I have been working on, new button earring accessories and Kitchy Kitchy Koo dresses made from vintage tablecloths, pillowcases and sheets.

It's my Little Niece Koa Pearl's Birthday on Sunday and she is turning two.

So the pressure is on for a great gift, well not really, she's 2

I bet she will just love the wrapping anyway

But I love going out of my way to buy special people in my life something that they will treasure.

So with that in mind there was once place to visit, House & Doll, at Bulimba.

So with the end of school drawing near I had to make a decision, quick!

I just adore these little polka dot suitcases, it was a toss up between the red & pink.

But I went with the pink, which set off the theme to fill it with fun pink things.

Being that she is third in line after my sister inlaw had 2 boys first, she has to compete with alot of Spiderman and Batman and Pirates. So bring on the pink I say

I often come across beautiful linens from OP shops and more ofen than not they have stains on them,you now the ones you think will never come out. As I have tried with sister products of Nappy San that are a few dollars cheaper. And haven't worked

So taking a chance on a few things I picked up yesterday and today, I was so surprised how clean they came up

And just had to mention this great Friday find, I have been dreaming of something similar for a while... no more tangles, well think I might need dad to make a bigger one now, so I can have every colour of the Rainbow

We are finally back from the coldest place in Australia at the moment(in my opinion anyway) Toowoomba.

The Family and I packed up on Wednesday and headed up The Range to watch my big girl participate in the State Softball Championships.

Not only did she do an AWESOME job over the 4days(3 games per day) she was selected for The Queensland Invitational Team, as Queensland will be hosting the National Titles this year, so we are lucky to have 2 Queensland teams,YAY!

Some of you may remember my friend Wendy that did a series of paintings of me earlier on in the year(which she surprised me with for my birthday prezzie in August)

Well look what she has gone on to achieve

Announced the winner of the St George Green Dragon Art Prize on Wednesday Night.

TGDAP is an annual competition for students that are enrolled in SouthBank Insitute of Art, Design and Hospitality.

Wendy was in competition with 170 other Artists,WOW!

As the Winner Wendy won the grand prize money of $2500 and her work "Six Degrees" will be hung in the Brisbane St George Corporate Office.

I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside

As adults we do get very busy on a day to day basis and forget the simple things in life.

For example frolicking by the Bay.

I took some time out from the busy day I was having,just after I mowed for 3hrs and just did this.

Kids are so beautiful to watch playing, away from computers and TV

Although it was very gusty down our way today, it was lovely to take them out on an adventure

The to do list for our walk was to...

go to the park,tick

look for crabs under rocks,tick

spot the Narnia Ship,tick

gather cuttlefish for anyone that had a bird,tick

Along the way Finlay's friend Isabella spotted a whole shell unopened,they were very disappointed when they smashed it on the pathway on the way home to see there was no pearl or treasure inside,priceless

But the most important part,are we still getting an ice cream

Just goes to show you don't have to venture to far from home to have fun

Race Course Rd Street Party

And that is was, I mean the whole st was packed with everything from street performers,bands to market stalls and did I mention Food, soooo much food

Brisbane definitely turned on the good weather for the day,and at times it was bit summery being that we were on the bitumen

With so much happening it seemed like the good folk were on a mission to be where it was all at,the music and food and free stuff that was on offer at the end of the street. But eventually making their way back down the street to were we were waiting for them.

3. Embelish and Jellygnite with their beautiful hair and childrens accessories

If anything it was a great day to promote our BrisStyle Christmas Market on the 5th of December.

My Girl will be off to Race Course Road Street Party bright and early to set up for what is shaping up to be Brisbane biggest parties of the year.

Part of the Brisbane Festival, The Race Course RD Street party is jam packed full of fun things for everyone, especially the little folk.

Face painting, petting zoo, workshops, street performers, you name it they'll be there

And all the important other stuff yummy food,live music all day and us, the BrisStyle gals selling all our awesome handmade goodness

Your best way of getting there is to park and ride, be it the City Cat from the other side of the River to Brett's Wharf or Train to Ascot Train Station

Well it's that time of the month again,when the girls at Portside roll out the marquee's.

With the weather forecast looking clear, what better day than to take a stroll through our beautiful market on a lovely Springs day.

As you can tell by recent posts that things have been a lot sad for me of late, with losing my Nana. And very ill, I haven't been in a very productive mood. After saying goodbye to my Nan yesterday,today was a good day to get stuck back into it. She wouldn't want us all to be sitting around sad and feeling sorry for our selves. Although my mind was think with thoughts of her all day while I sat and created and moments in between. It was listening to her Eulogy yesterday that made me even more determined to get back to work. My Nana was such a hard worker, and it really makes me sit up and want to get things done.

And that I did and again tomorrow.

Although midnight will come around quick tomorrow and I will still be wanting to have had more done. I am so happy to be back were I love to be.

So do pop down if you are in the area on Sunday 8am -1pm,lots of talented girls and the odd boy will be there with lots of goodies for you all to see

My Nana and Ocearna when she was a baby(she made the swing)

Tonight I am taking the time to reflect on the life of my Nana,my Dads mother, who sadly passed away today.

Today was my eldest daughters Birthday, so a day of joy and sadness.

My Nana Ros(Jean) was a very inspirational women. I used to love her stories from the past. She was like a book. I feel she still had so much more to tell me.

A real battler, raising a family of 6, the wife of a Fisherman.

Very strong and hard working, always mending and building things,never afraid to get her hands dirty.

Hello friends,

I'm still here, sort of...

Things have been a lil' hectic around here of late

With my big girl making the Met East Softball Team to play at the State Championships in October, work and my poor nan not well, I just haven't had the time to get into it.

So with the Boutique Markets on this Sunday I knew I had to pull my sewing finger out eventually.

And being that we don't have Softball to play on Sunday, daddy's taking the girls to the beach for the weekend

I have enlisted a new team member to MyGirl, my Mummy.

I will be spending the next couple of nights with her trying to catch up on some sewing just in time for my early start on Sunday

I was so happy to find it today

On my visit to House & Doll to find a gift for my high school girlfriend, Mandy. Who has recently just had her first child. A Little boy called Finn.

Sifting through all the girls stuff,which any other time would suit me fine, my eyes were drawn to these cute lil' guys.

They are perfect for little Finn, he lives by the sea in 1770, Mummy grew up sailing boats and working on Whaling Adventure cruises. Daddy has his own diving business.

So I'm sure he'll grow up to be a lil' Sailor boy too!

The beauty of living in the same house you were born in, you get excited with each new season watching your plantings of previous seasons blossom.

I am loving having the Camila's flowering at the moment, as every winter.

Another fav at the moment is the Geraldton Wax, I bought for Dad a couple years back, for Fathers Day.

Life gets so busy, but I always make time to get out to pick flowers at least once a week,it's very calming

Next digging day will be planting Jasmine. We used to have a huge trailing Jasmine on the veranda outside the bathroom,it smelt divine,I want it back

I am starting to gather quite a large pile of vintage tablecloths and materials.

Although I have a pattern for a smock dress, I am determined to perfect another design before grabbing the scissors and cutting into these treasures.

I picked up these beauties this afternoon at the local salvo's

Someones nana put alot of work into crochet around the edges of these tablecloths

I am always so amazed when I come across such lovely vintage materials like these.

I discussed it with Finlay on the way out of the shop.

Wondering how they came to be here. Then realised I was sharing my joy of vintage with a 7 year old,she'll get it one day,right?

Maybe someones Nana passed away(think I was talking to myself at this stage) and they weren't appreciated by the recipient.

Or where they a gift that some just did not like. I wonder. Always wondering what lovely stories these tablecloths hold. Family Christmas lunches and Birthday gatherings

I also came across this vintage tea towel when going through my fabrics,and had to laugh,

Phew, it's been a big couple of months with all these markets,the months have sort of just blurred together. Nevertheless is been great and the weather,Perfect!

It's been so great meeting lots of new people. Each market someone new.

Yesterday was the Boutique Market which promised to be a huge day and it didn't disappoint.

The crowds were huge.

With the Chocolate & Coffee Affair on I expected nothing less.

Unfortunately I didn't get a huge lot of photo's as my brain always seemed pre occupied with something else. Oh and it doesn't help when you get home at 1:30am that morning from a party at the Gold Coast and then have the Alarm set for 5:30am.

The Markets took on a new set up this time with all 3 walls set up on the marquees.

This coming Sunday the 12th July

Portside Wharf at Hamilton is holding it's Annual Coffee & Chocolate Affair again.

As this coincides with the monthly Boutique Market, they have extended the market hours from 8am - 4pm. So plenty of time to have a Sunday morning lay in then stroll on over to Portside for some awesome shopping and wonderful food.

This month sees lots of new stall holders taking it to over 40 retailers

into little boys must have accessory, A Pirate Patch.

My poor lil' nephew Chaz, had a run in with Poppy Dave's boat, while playing Pirate's with his big brother Kai yesterday.

Lucky I had my pirate fabric on hand while we were visiting the farm. I was planning to get some hairband making done while I was there.

Chaz's poor mummy Kel, has a bit of a waiting game over the next couple of days,while that terrible swelling subsides to see if his eye is OK. This lil darling is off to House & Doll tomorrow,along with a A line skirt in the same fab fabric.

It's a very functional smock dress that can be worn from ages 2-6. as a dress or smock top with jeans or tights. Winter/ Summer.... told you it was functional

Some of you girls may have had this fabric as sheets growing up? It was amazing to hear just how many did at the YDM.

In the rush of late, I am forgetting to take pics,so need to make a mental note to get more pics.

Can you smell the flowers,no, oh shame because they smell devine

Not sure if it's the Jonquil's or the Freesia's or a mix of both

I bought this bouquet of flowers for my Nana who has just had major heart surgery, not knowing she was still in ICU. No flowers allowed.

She did get to keep the little balloon that Suley bought to put in the flowers(Suley paid for it with her own money,very sweet)

Think I might have to treat myself to flowers like this every week,wouldn't that be nice

Today was a very exciting one
My Girl is officially on the shelves of House & Doll
Located in Bulimba's cafe hub on Oxford street,It's girl heaven over there.
You could spend hours in this lil' shop. Something grabbing you eye every second your in there. And this is where you'll find me spending my xmas dollars, as I have made a pledge to support locally own businesses and Indie artist this coming festive season.
Gorgeous Simone has to be congratulated on her efforts,supporting local Indie artists.

I had such an awesome day, at Thea's today attending her screen printing workshop

And wow what a creative bunch she had today, if I do say so myself...

First we had to design and cut our stencil, then the fun part seeing if they printed as good as they looked on paper. And I think they all came out better on the fabric. What fun we all had.

Unfortunately this was the last workshop Thea will be holding for now as she is taking a well earned rest, and concentrating on her own designs. But do sign up to her newsletter if you would like to be informed on all things Thea & Sami

Well that's what they say,right, so true after looking at this photo of the girls today

Today was school carnival day, and as sports captains of Warreen, Ocearna and her mate Jess lead their team to victory today, being the first win for the team in 9years.

I am so proud of my girls, not only for Ocey and the team, all my girls did really well in their events.

No not really, just these gorgeous babies. Picked them up today from the local second hand shop that is closing down,EVERYTHING 50% OFF. $15 for the pair. Not so happy ending there for the lady that has run the business for 10years. A bit sad for her
And to think I was going to leave with out them, it was a split decision to turn the car off and run in and get them, as it was 3 on the dot. Lucky school is only a minute up the road, sorry girls.
Ursula and Finlay won in the end,the lamps new home is in they're room,at the end of they re beds. Now I expect lots of bedtime reading girls,hah!

My Girl was out and about at Portside Wharf Boutique Markets. And what a gorgeous day to be out and about. The girls(Rachael,Leasl & Kerry) have done an amazing job organising the BM.

I was surrounded by amazing talent once again... it's hard work being amongst such temptation. And yes this time I did give into it. Being a boutique market it gives me perfect opportunity to pop over and take a peep in some other stalls, probably not a good thing, when you are trying to make money. But they were things I needed...

I have been madly trying to get sewing done in preparation for tomorrow, as last week at the YDM we were quite popular. And being in hospital the following day, Queens Bday holiday, that day was not a productive one. But that's always the way when you live with kiddies, you never know what's round the corner.

So for tomorrow after a great response to My Precious Punk singlets, I have been doing a little for the boys this week.

I Miss Lyssy

Yesterday I woke to another freezing morning to get the girls ready for school. And as the two older girls go a little earlier than Finlay, this was the perfect oppurtunity to pinch Ursula's fingerless gloves that she bought last winter from Lyssy May's. Finlay grabbed hers TOO
I am really struggling, my body just can't stand this extreme weather. I was still cold even though I had 4 layers on. I suddenly felt a little warmer when I heard on the radio that some areas went down to -5 degrees.

So don't know what will happen next week when she wants them back. That is what I miss about popping in Lyssy May's. Picking up nifty lil' handmade goodies to keep me warm in winter

B-line for the A-line......

well I was hoping that was going to be the case at the YDM ,but as always,as soon as you think something is going to go off, it goes totally in other direction.

But I was'nt too worried that my new A-line vintage skirts didn't sell today, because what they lacked my other items made up for.

The day started like any other "normal" winters day, you know the ones, crisp blue skies,fresh clean air,birds singing,(something we haven't witness around here for a while,but you remember)then right on queue as the markets were about to start the crazy rain blew in, it looked like it was going to stay for the day, then all of a sudden the blue Sky's were back.YAY!

Then the crowd started to roll in and they were lovely bunch, especially my first little customer, who set my happy mood for the day and was none other than a boy. He spent his whole allowance on a Precious Punk singlet, even after mummy made him aware that he will be spending his whole allowance and will get no change, he still proceeded with the transaction. Wonder if he hit mum up for some more "allowance"later on.

Was lovely to see some familiar faces about today and some new ones that I am sure will be seeing again soon. Most likely at the Boutique Market that is on next Sunday at Port side, Hamilton.

Here in Queensland,Australia we are celebrating our states 150th birthday. And to celebrate,our school had a old fashion get together at Ormiston House

Although it was raining,we still enjoyed watching the children play old fashion games and indulged in Devonshire Tea.

The children didn't seem to mind, the more mud the better

I would have loved to taken more photo's of inside,but it isn't allowed:( The rooms are set up so beautifully. Did manage to sneak this one in of the nursery.

Historic Ormiston House was the home of Australian sugar industry pioneer, Captain Louis Hope. It is regarded as one of the finest examples of colonial architecture in Queensland. The House dates back to 1862, has spacious grounds and gardens, and expansive views overlooking Moreton Bay. Ormiston House has been meticulously restored and furnished with authentic period pieces.

The Carmelite nuns bought the property in 1959, but didn't have the heart to rip it down, so they settled with neighbouring property to build the nunnery

We finished the day off with each grade from prep to 3 doing a dance, then a massive cake.

Party Time at Lyssy May

LyssyMay has just turned 6 and she is having a party. Well a giveaway to celebrate.

Alyssa first launched Lyssy May's in her parents lounge room way back in 2003. And has gone on to do amazing things since.

For example opening her darling little shop in Morningside,Brisbane. Gaining a reputation for her beautifully designed handbags, did I mention her attention to detail,wow.

Lyssy May was also loved by many for it's Handmade Goodness that she offered. Stocking and supporting a number of talented Indie artists. The shop was made up of a healthy 80% ratio of handmade yummyness.

She now resides in Melbourne where she continues to soar, and create new designs.
